Fight for a cure today
We Know City has always supported talented people as well as great causes. 2012 is a new year but we remain strong advocates of talent and worthwhile organizations. We are starting our sponsorship duties with Latisha Avent (LA) who will be doing the difficult task of running 13.1 miles in the NYC Half Marathon for the Leukemia & Lymphoma society.
Here’s her story.
“As I’ve started on this journey, I had to take a moment and reflect on all the goodness around me. I’m surrounded by “things” I’ve acquired over the years, but my greatest joy does not come from anything tangible. It isn’t found in the latest gadget, or the designer clothes. I get my greatest joy giving back.
I have a personal connection to this cause. My uncle lost his battle to cancer in 1992 and my aunt lost her battle to Leukemia in 1996. There are millions of people who have been affected directly and indirectly. No matter what kind of cancer it is, Cancer is Cancer. I want to put an end to this terrible disease. It is my personal goal to continue to work as hard as I can to help those who are still here battling against this dreadful disease. It is my commitment to continue to fight and do all I can to make a difference!
I have been abundantly blessed over 2011, and as I reflect I can’t help but end 2011 on a theme that has been prominent in my life all year - gratefulness. I am so thankful for the fact that I have been blessed to do be helping others.
I am honored that I will be a part of the NYC Half Marathon March 2012! This is priceless! It is wonderful to receive all the joy that life has to offer, but it’s magnificent when you turn around and share that joy with others. Help me give the gift of saving a life and advance the research for cures.”
