Sneaker Con NYC 2011: Recap thoughts

How about we stand in line for about 60mins in 40 degree, very windy weather. While in line, kids, teenagers, and adults paced the sidewalk holding 1 sneaker in the air trying to get the movers and shakers to bite. Finally, the church bell struck 12 times and the crowd roared because that sound meant the doors are opening. But alas, they did not and we waited another 30mins until the ahhh moment happened. $12 to get in and then it began. It was like the stock exchange at 9:30am. People yelling prices and sizes, holding sneakers in the air, creeping inch by inch because there had to be at least 1000 people in the basement of this church. YES. Church.

Did you know sneakers can cost a rent check for ONE PAIR? Did you know people will wait in line for 6 days to buy a pair of limited edition sneakers only to sell them at sneaker con? Mo money! Mo money! Mo money! Did you know they don’t sell laces (phat laces) at this sneaker convention?

We did manage to walk away with some T-shirts by Who Am I clothing, rubber bracelets galore, keychains from adidas as well as our photo taken that will be placed on their site, a cd and lots and lots of promotional material like stickers, postcards, and business cards.

All in all a very good time was had. No sneakers were purchased but our entertainment cup overflowed. Check out the videos and pics posted previously.
